Product Designer

Basis tackles a genuinely hard design problem: making complex cost estimation feel simple without hiding the complexity that professionals need. We're looking for a Product Designer who thrives on that kind of challenge.

You'll be responsible for the end-to-end design of our product, from early-stage concept exploration to polished, production-ready UI specs. Our users work with dense financial data, multi-level cost breakdowns, and compliance-driven workflows, so information architecture and interaction design are just as important as visual craft.

You'll be the sole designer working directly with our PM and engineering team, so you'll have an outsized impact on the product experience.

What you’ll do

Design user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for new features and product improvements
Develop and maintain the Basis design system in Figma, ensuring consistency across all product surfaces
Conduct usability testing and synthesize feedback to refine designs iteratively
Create intuitive interfaces for complex data-heavy workflows like cost modeling and proposal building
Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure designs translate faithfully into production
Contribute to product strategy by identifying UX opportunities through user research and analytics

What we’re looking for

4+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing complex, data-rich applications
Proficiency with Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, and prototyping
Solid understanding of design systems and how to build them for scale
Experience with user research methods including usability testing, interviews, and surveys
Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

Experience designing for regulated industries (GovCon, finance, healthcare)
Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, React component models)
Experience with data visualization or dashboard design
