Solutions Engineer
Remote (US)Full-time$140,000 - $180,000
We need a Solutions Engineer who can bridge the gap between our product and our customers' real-world estimation workflows. You'll be the technical voice in sales conversations and the customer voice in product conversations.
Day to day, you'll support our sales team with tailored demos, proof-of-concept configurations, and technical deep-dives. You'll also work directly with customers during onboarding to ensure they're set up for success, whether they're running Basis in our cloud or deploying it on-premise.
The ideal candidate has a technical background and genuine curiosity about how government contractors build cost proposals. If you've ever put together a cost volume or helped an estimator debug a wrap rate, you'll feel right at home.
What you’ll do
- Partner with Account Executives to deliver compelling, customized product demonstrations
- Design and execute proof-of-concept implementations for prospective customers
- Serve as the primary technical contact during the sales cycle, fielding security and integration questions
- Support customer onboarding by configuring rate structures, templates, and workflows
- Build reusable demo environments, sample data sets, and technical documentation
- Provide structured feedback to product and engineering teams based on customer interactions
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years in a solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical consulting role
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to discuss APIs, databases, and deployment architectures
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles with demos, POCs, and technical evaluations
- Comfort working autonomously across multiple deals with varying timelines and complexity
- Willingness to develop deep domain expertise in cost estimation and government pricing
Nice to have
- Background in government contracting, defense, or aerospace industries
- Experience with self-hosted or on-premise software deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with cost accounting concepts like indirect rates, wrap rates, or fee structures
- Experience building technical content (white papers, integration guides, webinars)
